Mr. Ramtane Lamamra took office on 8th July as Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, in replacement of Mr. Sabri Boukadoum.  In his speech during the handover ceremony, Mr. Lamamra highlighted the main priorities of the Algerian diplomacy.

The President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune appointed on 7th July the members of the new government led by Prime Minister Aïmene Benabderrahmane. Algeria has been named as the number One country in Africa in 2021 for Quality of Life, according to the CEOWORLD magazine 2021 report. The ranking is based on 10 key categories: Affordability, Economic stability, Family-friendly, A good job market, Income equality, political neutrality & stability, Safety, cultural influence, Well-developed public education system, and Well-developed public health system.

The Ministry of Agriculture Rural Development announced ‘’encouraging results” of the rapeseed cultivation program, which has been launched in a bid to find substitutions for cooking oil imports. With nearly 14,000 quintals of collected rapeseed this season, the agricultural authorities have succeeded in attracting both farmers and processors to the cultivation of rapeseed. The challenge is to reduce imports of raw cooking oil and rapeseed meals, which have an annual bill of around $ 1.2 billion.

The Embassy and “Algeria British Business Council” (ABBC) organised a webinar, on 30th June, entitled: “Investing in Algeria: Hydrocarbon Law, 2021” to discuss the new law on hydrocarbon adopted in 2019.
