Foreign Minister, Sabri Boukadoum had an exchange with Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, ahead of the emergency session of the League of Arab States Council, to discuss Arab action in response to the crimes of the Israeli occupation in the occupied city of Al Quds. On this occasion, they reiterated the necessity of reviving the spirit of Arab-Islamic solidarity to support the Palestinians and to preserve religious Sanctities.

In a phone call, on 10th May, Foreign Affairs Minister, Sabri Boukadoum and Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, discussed developments in the Middle East region, as well as bilateral relations and ways to advance them.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared in a statement on 9th May that Algeria condemns in the strongest terms the racist and extremist attacks in the occupied city of El-Quds against Palestinian civilians and their deprivation of religious freedom in El-Aqsa mosque. The Embassy and the Consulate General organized on the 8th May, a commemoration ceremony in remembrance of the massacres of 8th May 1945 with the presence of members of the Algerian community in the United Kingdom. The Algerian people will commemorate, Saturday, 8th May, the 76th anniversary of the massacres by the French colonial army of more than 45.000 innocent civilians who were demonstrating peacefully in favour of the country’s independence. It was one of the greatest mass killings in contemporary times that historians consider as crimes against humanity.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sabri Boukadoum, and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, exchanged on 6th May, views on the work of the Peace and Security Council and its agenda under the Algerian chairmanship during the month of May 2021. On this occasion, Minister Boukadoum reiterated the will, under this framework, to coordinate and unify continental efforts in dealing with the tensions in many regions in Africa.

In a phone call, on 6th May, Foreign Affairs Minister, Sabri Boukadoum and Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr Bisera Turkovic, discussed prospects for strengthening the cooperation between the two countries and the imminent opening of the Bosnian Embassy in Algiers. They also exchanged views on regional issues of common interest, including the developments in the Balkans.   

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sabri Boukadoum, received on Wednesday 5th May, his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, who is on an official visit to Algeria to deliver to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a letter from His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait.

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune received, on Tuesday, 4th May, a phone call from the Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi, with whom he reviewed the relations between Algeria and Italy on all levels and the prospects to promote and expand them to various fields. The conversation also focused on regional and international issues of common interest, mainly the situation in Libya, the Sahel and Western Sahara, reflecting the traditional convergence of views between the two countries.
