UK-Algeria High Level Business Briefing

The UK-Algeria High Level Business Briefing was held on the 21st January 2020, at the Embassy, in collaboration with the Algerian-British Business Council (ABBC) and the developing Markets Company (DMA).
Among the participants at the forum were Mr. Farhat Ait Ali Braham, Minister of Industry and Mines, Lord Risby, Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Algeria, Ambassador of Algeria to the UK, Mr. Abderrahmane Benguerrah, Ambassador of the UK to Algeria, Mr. Barry Lowen, Lady Olga Maitland, Chairman at the ABBC, along with representatives of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as well as the Ministries of Trade and Industries.
Were also present a number of Algerian and British Chief Executives, namely the Directors General of Sonatrach, Sonelgaz, Air Algérie, the President of the Business Leaders Forum (FCE), representatives of British companies and academics and economists from both countries.
M. Farhat Ait Ali Braham, Minister for Industry and Mines, outlined, during his keynote speech, the latest economic policies of the ‘‘New Algeria’’, including the actions to be undertaken in the short and long run, particularly in terms of reforms and law regulations.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Abderrahmane Benguerrah highlighted the historical ties between the two countries and reiterated the Algerian government’s commitment to further develop and reinforce the bilateral cooperation in all sectors of the economy.
