The Ministry of Agriculture Rural Development announced ‘’encouraging results” of the rapeseed cultivation program, which has been launched in a bid to find substitutions for cooking oil imports.
With nearly 14,000 quintals of collected rapeseed this season, the agricultural authorities have succeeded in attracting both farmers and processors to the cultivation of rapeseed. The challenge is to reduce imports of raw cooking oil and rapeseed meals, which have an annual bill of around $ 1.2 billion.
