Roundtable on the Business Climate and Investment Opportunities in Algeria

The Embassy, in collaboration with the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), organised a roundtable titled “Algeria and Recent Developments: Business Climate and Investment Opportunities” in London on 26th September 2024.

This event was part of efforts to promote the profound economic reforms implemented by the Algerian government to stimulate economic growth and strengthen trade relations between Algeria and the United Kingdom. The primary objective was to highlight the country’s recent reforms and promote key sectors offering investment opportunities.

During the roundtable, several strategic sectors were identified as promising for investors, including agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, information and communication technologies (ICT), and tourism.

The Ambassador emphasised Algeria’s economic strengths, underscoring its resilience in the face of global challenges, sustained growth, and strong foreign exchange reserves. He also highlighted Algeria’s strategic geographical position, abundant natural resources, and young, skilled population—all factors that make it a prime destination for foreign investors. He detailed reforms undertaken to improve the business climate, such as the digitalisation of administrative services and the introduction of tax incentives. He further noted that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has risen sharply, positioning Algeria as the top Maghreb country for investments, according to UNCTAD.
