In collaboration with the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce of London (ABCC), the Embassy held a virtual Round Table on business and investment opportunities in Algeria, on the 11th of November 2020. Among the participants at this event were: Lord Richard Risby, Personal Envoy of the Prime Minister for Economic Partnership with Algeria, the Rt Hon Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean, Chairman of the ABCC, Mr. Bandar Reda, Secretary General and CEO of the ABCC, Lady Olga Maitland, Chairman of the Algerian British Business Council, Mr. James Fielder, CEO of HSBC Algeria Bank and Mr. Yassine Bouhara, Vice President of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in France (CACI).
137 businessmen and representatives of Algerian and British companies participated in this event.
On this occasion, Ambassador Abderrahmane Benguerrah discussed the political and economic reforms put forward by the Algerian Government to reinforce the rule of law and good governance and to improve the business climate in the country. He, in particular, highlighted the measures introduced to boost the sectors of the hydrocarbons, mining, finance and digitalisation.
In their comments, the participants praised the important changes occurring in the Algerian economy and considered that they provide real business opportunities for British firms.
