President Abdelmadjid Tebboune: Energy transition, a major priority to consolidate energy security

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said, in a message read on his behalf by Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad, on the double occasion of the 65th anniversary of the creation of the General Union of Algerian Labour (UGTA) and the 50th anniversary of the hydrocarbon nationalization, celebrated on the 24th February, that energy transition is one of Algeria’s major priorities in order to consolidate its energy security; indicating that this transition will be achieved through the use of the country’s proven capacities of unconventional, new and renewable energies.
 
On the same occasion, Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad noted that renewable energy will become the main driver of economic development alongside the sectors of mining, Saharan agriculture, pharmaceutical industry, start-ups and micro-enterprises.
