President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announces important measures  

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced a number of important measures in his address to the nation, on the 18th of February, namely :
 
–       the dissolution of the lower house of the Algerian Parliament and the organization of early elections;
–       a government reshuffle which will concern a number of ministries;
–       a presidential pardon to 55 to 60 detainees on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the Hirak;
–       the establishment of a High Council for Youth, a Constitutional Court and a National Observatory of the Civil Society.
 
He also emphasized that Algeria’s foreign policy remains “constantly” committed to the peaceful settlement of disputes and dialogue, particularly in Africa, adding that the conflict in Western Sahara is a question of decolonization that must be resolved through the holding of a referendum on self-determination of the Sahrawi people.
