The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune received, on Tuesday, 4th May, a phone call from the Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi, with whom he reviewed the relations between Algeria and Italy on all levels and the prospects to promote and expand them to various fields. The conversation also focused on regional and international issues of common interest, mainly the situation in Libya, the Sahel and Western Sahara, reflecting the traditional convergence of views between the two countries.

In a message read on his behalf by the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, on the occasion of the International Labour Day (1st May), the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune congratulated the Algerian workers and commanded their efforts and awareness to overcome the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on socio-economic life. He also expressed his commitment to lead the Government towards the preservation of jobs despite the constraints caused by the pandemic situation.

This is a timely report as it is published as Algeria is redoubling its efforts to promote the development of renewable energies and clean and efficient technologies in order to achieve a successful energy transition, which is a major priority and an essential condition to ensure its energy security and preserve its environment. In a phone call, on 29 April, Foreign Affairs Minister, Sabri Boukadoum and US Secretary of State, Tony Blinken, discussed ways to revive and strengthen the strategic partnership between Algeria and the United States of America in various fields. They also exchanged views on regional issues of common interest, particularly the situations in Western Sahara, Libya and Mali.

Following the death of the Mujahid and lawyer Ali Yahya Abdenour, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, addressed on Sunday 25th April a message of condolence and compassion to the family of the deceased, his relatives and his companions Mujahedeen, in which he praised his long struggle in the ranks of the national movement and during the glorious liberation revolution and his service to independent Algeria.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Boukadoum reiterated on 25th April Algeria’s commitment to pursue its efforts to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to join the international community to complete the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
